This two-week self drive golf holiday encompasses most of the Western Cape's famous golfing regions.

Stay 4 nights at Table Bay Hotel, located at the V&A Waterfront Cape Town, then travel to the Garden Route where you'll stay 2 nights at Botlierskop Private Game Reserve, and 3 nights at Fancourt Golf Resort. On the way back to Cape Town you'll end your holiday with 4 nights at d'Oude Werf Hotel, located in the heart of historic Stellenbosch. Play rounds of golf at Arabella, Steenberg, Fancourt Outeniqua, Fancourt Montagu, De Zalze and Pearl Valley golf courses.

Golf Holiday Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive at Cape Town International and drive with your rental car towards the Table Bay Hotel, located at the V&A Waterfront. Explore the V&A Waterfront at your own pace and return to the hotel after dinner.

Day 2

Once you’ve enjoyed breakfast you’ll drive to the Arabella Golf Course. This championship parkland course, designed by the celebrated South African golf course architect Peter Matkovich, has spectacular views across the Bot River lagoon and across the Kogelberg mountain range. Arabella offers one of the best and most challenging golf experiences in South Africa.

After golf you can visit the nearby town Hermanus. This location is regard as the best land based whale watching destination in the world. Enjoy a drink at one of the cafes overlooking the bay and see the majestic giants of the ocean swimming a mere stone’s throw away. Return to the hotel before dinner.

When it’s not whale season, you can opt to visit Cape Point, located at the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve.

Day 3

After breakfast you can visit some of Cape Town’s famous tourist attractions, including Table Mountain, the penguins at Boulders Beach and the Castle of Good Hope. Return to the hotel before dinner

Day 4

Tee off at Steenberg Golf Course after breakfast. Designed by Peter Matkovich, the course takes full advantage of natural features and hazards and is rated as one of the top three courses to visit in South Africa. Steeped in the Cape Dutch tradition, history has an elegant, almost tangible quality at Steenberg. Visit the Steenberg Winery before returning to the hotel.

Day 5

Check out after breakfast and head towards Cape Town Airport return the hired car and board your short flight to George.

Upon arrival at George Airport you’ll rent another car and travel to Botlierskop Private Game Reserve. Check in and go on an afternoon ranger guided safari before dinner. All meals and safaris are inluded during your stay at Botlierskop.

Day 6

Full day safari. Botlierskop is a well stocked, free roaming private game reserve, which gives visitors the opportunity to view African wildlife from the safety of 4×4 vehicles, in its natural habitat. Rhino’s, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, eland, bontebuck and 26 more species, make up a total of more than 1800 animals.

Day 7

Check out after breakfast and head to Fancourt Golf Resort, home of the 2003 Presidents Cup. Check in and spend the remainder of the day relaxing beside the pool or at the spa.

Day 8

After breakfast you’ll be teeing off at Fancourt Outeniqua Golf Course. Designed by legendary Grand Slam golfer, Gary Player, it is similar in character to its sibling, the Montagu, and its challenging design and fine conditioning will ensure an excellent test for all levels of golfers. Spend the rest of the day discovering Fancourt at your own pace. Half day tours to interesting locations around the Garden Route can be booked at Fancourt Reception.

Day 9

Play a round of golf at Fancourt Montagu after breakfast. The Montagu is a much celebrated parkland course and has been ranked as the number-one golf course in South Africa in the past. Spend the remainder of the day rejuvinating body and mind at the world renowned Fancourt Health Spa.

Day 10

Check out after breakfast and morning at leisure. Take the hire car back to George Airport, where you’ll board the short flight back to Cape Town. Upon arrival you’ll drive to Oude Werf Hotel, located in the heart of historic Stellenbosch. After checking in you can take a relaxing look around Stellenbosch.

Day 11

Have a delicious breakfast before you head to De Zalze Golf Course. The De Zalze Golf Course was designed by Peter Matkovich (course architect for both Leopard Rock and Arabella) who has made the most of this stunning setting and created a course that places a premium on accuracy. Visit the Spier Winery at De Zalze before returning to the hotel. Spend the evening at leisure after dinner.

Day 12

Today you’ll embark on a full day wine tasting tour. The Cape Winelands are surrounded by majestic mountain ranges and fertile green valleys. The region has a Mediterranean climate and the winter rainfall of the south-western Cape helps producing some of the best wines in the world. Towns and villages in the Cape Winelands have many historic homesteads, museums and monuments to discover. Visit famous wine estates such as Boschendal and La Motte before returning to the hotel.

Day 13

Tee off at Pearl Valley Golf Course after breakfast. Although no individual can lay claim to the overall design of Pearl Valley, the masterplan was shaped by the vision of Jack Nicklaus. This golf legend sees the Pearl Valley course as the sum of his knowledge and his experience. Return to the hotel after golf and spend the remainder of the day discovering Stellenbosch’s many shops, museums, galleries, cafes and restaurants at your own pace.

Day 14

Enjoy breakfast and a relaxing morning at the hotel before checking out. Drive back to Cape Town International, where you can do some last minute duty free shopping before boarding your flight back home.
