Durban Beachwood Country Club was taken over and restored to championship standards by Durban Country Club in the early 90’s. Beachwood, as it’s locally known, occupies premiere coastal estate right on the water’s edge & lies north of the Durban Country Club separated only by the Umgeni River.
Fairways are long, narrow, lie in parallel formation, are coated with lush green grass bordered by forgiving rough and have smooth running greens. The course provides a real challenge to the handicapped player as precision shots and club selection are going to make the difference here.
Beachwood’s northern boundary is shared with the Virginia Airport, a light craft airport that makes for stunning views as the planes take off and land. Sharing its eastern border with the beach the golf club is of course, like any beach club, open to severe wind conditions but these have been curbed as much as possible by the tall overhanging trees which form the borders of the individual holes.
The course is an 18 hole championship links and is open to the public, book ahead however to avoid disappointment.
Facilities include Caddies, Change Rooms, Club Rental, Halfway House, Clubhouse, Function Rooms, Golf Carts, Use of GPS Systems, and Pull Carts.
